We have been it the Performance, Marine and ATV business for 50 years. One thing that does not change is that improper fuel delivery robs power and in the extreme cases will cause sever engine damage. Gasoline is naturally dirty, it contains fine grit that is so fine that it can pass through strainers and filters in the fuel system that will wind up being trapped in the 5-10 micron basket or screen filter on the injector. Besides the fine grit, gasoline contains paraffin wax that over time will build up in the injectors causing them to clog  up and lose volume, gum up internals, cause the injectors to start leaking down witch can cause cylinder washing and oil contamination that can lead to engine failure. Recreational vehicle are more susceptible to these conditions due to the fact that they are not used on a daily basis which can lead to breakdown of fuels and cause an increased build up of contaminants. Other issues that will effect injector performance is ethanol in the fuel can range from 10% to 85%, ethanol is corrosive and also will absorb moisture from water in the fuel tank or humidity in the air. These conditions are the main reason that fuel injectors will begin to lose performance and can lead to engine damage or complete failure.
